Real Decreto 487/2022 - Legionella prevention
The Spanish Legionella Regulation (formerly RD 865/2003) prescribes strict measures for germ control in water systems. The following are particularly affected: Community pools in urbanizations, hotel and resort pools, whirlpools, spas and jacuzzis, as well as vacation rentals via Airbnb, Booking & Co. UV disinfection is a recognized method of compliance and is recommended by health authorities.

Saltwater pools are widespread in Spain – and benefit particularly from UV-LED disinfection.
What many do not know
Salt water pools are not chlorine-free pools. The salt system (Clorador Salino) produces normal chlorine from the salt by electrolysis – just on site. This means that chloramines are also produced and chlorine-resistant pathogens are also an issue.
Electrolytic cell lives longer
The cell is the most expensive wearing part (replacement: 400-800 €). Less chlorine production thanks to UV-LED significantly extends its service life.
Less salt consumption
